David Brock
David R. Brock is Presiding Evangelist Emeritus for Community of Christ. He was ordained as president of seventy in 1988, as an apostle in 1992, and served as Presiding Evangelist from 2007 until his retirement in 2016. He is now living in Redmond, Oregon with his wife Carolyn where he enjoys serving as a volunteer in the church and in in several community organizations. He also enjoys hiking in the mountains and along the lakes and rivers of the beautiful Northwest.
His assignments during his years of church employment included the Pacific Mission Field, Southwest USA Mission Field, North Central USA Mission Field, administrator and stewardship commissioner of the Africa Region, assistant to the Council of Twelve, and Southwest Region staff member.
A native of Kansas City, Kansas, he graduated from Meridian High School in Idaho, attended Graceland College in Lamoni, Iowa, received a bachelor of science from the University of Oregon, and a master of arts in religion from Park University, Parkville, Missouri. David did further studies at the Instituto de Filogía Hispánica, Saltillo, Mexico; Alliance Française, Nairobi, Kenya; Berlitz Language School, St. Louis, Missouri; Saint Paul School of Theology and the Nazarene Theological Seminary, both in Kansas City, Missouri; Haden Institute (spiritual direction certification), Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada; and the Center for Creative Leadership, Greensboro, North Carolina.
